Use a DOCX file
Open your document in Word or a compatible editor and save it as .docx. The older binary .doc format is not supported on this site. Choose the file, convert it and review the Markdown source before downloading.
Use real heading styles
Heading 1 and Heading 2 styles carry more structure than text made large or bold. Use proper lists and simple tables in the source document for clearer Markdown. Page breaks, fonts and page margins are not the goal of this conversion.
Review embedded content
Text in screenshots is not extracted by this preview. Embedded images are not included in the downloaded .md file. Equations, tracked changes, comments and complex tables deserve a manual comparison with the original.

Does the Word converter support DOC as well as DOCX?
This site accepts .docx files. For a legacy .doc file, use Word or another compatible editor to save a DOCX copy before uploading. Renaming the extension does not convert the format.
How do Word headings become Markdown headings?
Apply Heading 1, Heading 2 and other heading styles in Word. They give the converter explicit structure. Large or bold text without a heading style may remain an ordinary paragraph.
What happens to images and page layout?
Markdown does not reproduce margins, page breaks or precise positioning. This tool does not package embedded images into a downloadable asset folder. Keep the Word original when images or layout matter.
Are Word tables and lists preserved?
Simple tables and lists can become Markdown structure. Merged cells, nested tables and custom numbering need review. The example below includes the actual output, including its table header behavior.
